#1lineWed #PromoLGBTQ #Paranormal #Fantasy: Saint

Here’s another short-‘n-sweet #1lineWed post. The theme is saint. Saint Bernard, saints n’ sinners, my sainted mother, Saint Louis… here’s Stowne’s talking about Saint Brigid.

“This is a celebration to welcome the upcoming spring, of renewal, and of possibilities. Brigid is the virgin form of our Blessed Mother Earth and often referred to in modern times as Saint Brigid. This is a celebration of her, of the practical arts, of healing,” Stowne moved their eyes to Aubrey, who blushed. “of the hearth and home, of evening stories, and of smithcraft.” Stowne nodded to Dane who crossed her arms and grinned from ear to ear.

#WIPpetWed #AppalachianElementals #WIP 4/17/2019 Short People Problems

Welcome to my contribution to #WIPpet Wednesday*, a blog hop where authors share from their current works in progress (WIPs)!  I’m still plugging away at my yet untitled WIP. Yes, I’ve a few titles in mind, but I’m not ready to share any of them as of yet.

If I’m slow to share your comments, don’t fret. I’m currently residing in the land of medical… stuff. I’ll be back in a week or three so comment way. I’ll reply as soon as I’m able.

I’m picking up where I left off last week.

In case you’re playing catch up…

WIPpet One: Something Brand New

WIPpet Two: Civilized Adult

WIPpet Three: No Daughter of Liberty

WIPpet Four: Mary’s Chicken

WIPpet Five: Johnnycakes

Here’s my #WIPpet math for 4/17/2019 I’m snagging the seven for seven paragraphs from… I’ll think of a title someday soon, I promise.

Note: The first line comes from last week’s WIPpet, and Conall is speaking.

“Whatever you said, it involves me and food.”

“I said you appreciate my cooking.” I center my tricorn on my head. It’s larger than I need, but it’d been the right price when I’d obtained it… free. I don’t care who lost it, it’s a fine hat indeed, better than Conall’s truth be known.

“It’s like you stayed by your mother’s side long enough to learn.”

#KeepingHouseNovel #RainbowSnippets #PromoLGBTQ Ninety: Get Goin’

I’ve ten million things to do, and not enough time to get it all accomplished, but isn’t that life? Actually, I’ll be offline quite a bit for the next few weeks, recouping from knee replacement surgery. Surely, I’ll be around some, but I’ve created a number of posts ahead of time to make things easier. Next week will be the first of four such posts.

Hi, and welcome to #Rainbowsnippets*! This one is uniquely mine, but there are lots of other great snippets to read so after you finish here click the FB link at the bottom of the post to discover other great LGBTQIA authors and their works.

This week I’m jumping ahead a few paragraphs in Chapter Three of Keeping House. Cent and Stowne have enjoyed a final dance together, but now it’s time for them to part ways.

Note: The portion in orange comes from last week’s snippet.

Yes, it is time. Stowne pulled Cent into a lingering kiss then set her beside them, turning to Dane. “Three months. No more. She returns—”

#WriteLGBTQ #WIP #KeepingHouseNovel: Cover

#writeLGBTQ #KeepingHouseNovel
The theme is cover. Coveralls. Cover up. Under the covers. Undercover. Here we’re briefly talking cloud cover then moving to a spell Cent’s proving she’s mastered.

Dane glanced at the sky. “Damn hard to tell the exact time with this cloud cover, but it’s somewhere around noon. Before we go, I want to see you both practice agin’ yourselves for future days. Show me your mid-fifties.”

“Done.” Cent pulled off her gloves to look at her nails, noting how the polish had become chipped along the edges. She covered that with a spell too, choosing a blush pink that matched the modest feminine look she’d chosen. “Next?”

And here’s a little something else for you. I’ve got a new cover of my own. Keeping House is available for pre-order from Amazon. It’ll be available on other sites soon and in both print and ebook formats.

#1lineWed #PromoLGBTQ #Paranormal #Fantasy: Myth

Here’s another short-‘n-sweet #1lineWed post. The theme is myth, but I’m running with the idea, not the specific word. A myth is a traditional story, so I’m showing a bit of a Hunter Fey myth as told by their king, Dane.

Dane emptied her moonshine jar and tossed it into the air, where it disappeared. “We come from Scotland, lads, lasses, and those who claim neither, both, or somewheres betwixt. Hunters are the third fey court, the one no one speaks about, the one written outta history.” She shushed the boos and hisses rising around her. “Yeah, I know. It’s a cryin’ shame too because we’re the best of them all.”

WIPpet Two: Civilized Adult

WIPpet Three: No Daughter of Liberty

WIPpet Four: Mary’s Chicken

Here’s my #WIPpet math for 4/10/2019: 4+2= 6 paragraphs from my still untitled side story set within the Appalachian Elementals series.

Note: The first paragraph, in orange, comes from last week’s WIPpet.

Widow Alcott’s looking at Conall as a future son-in-law, and I pray he doesn’t fall for her trap, Mary’s chicken or not.

I glance up at him as we walk, content with my current lot. Conall Baldwin is a good boss and Master Gow, while strange, leaves us mostly to ourselves aside from the spring plantings, summer trimmings, and harvest time. This is the ninth summer Conall and I have worked this land, our ninth year of tobacco and corn. We’ve got a sufficient garden too, so Conall knows I’m joking when I said I’d rather have beans and eggs. I’d rather have eggs and greens and maybe some new potatoes with just enough salt pork for taste.

DARKER KEEPING HOUSE COVER FINAL (2)And here it is, the final cover for Keeping House: An Appalachian Paranormal Fantasy. The novel is slated for a July 8th release, and I can hardly wait! If you thought Cleaning House was good, buckle up. This one’s going to turn you upside down and wring you out like a damp dishrag before it’s all over.

This week I’m picking up where I left off last week in Keeping House. Kenzie’s heading home, and Dane’s not at all thrilled.

Note: The portion in orange comes from last week’s snippet.

“Yes’m, I’m goin’.” Kenzie flew off in a soggy-winged snit, leaving the circle attendees staring after him.

“Apologies for disruptin’ the proceedin’s, Stowne. Please continue.” Dane took another draw from her jar. Continue reading

#WriteLGBTQ #WIP #KeepingHouseNovel: Lie

#writeLGBTQ #KeepingHouseNovel
The theme is lie. Let sleeping dogs lie. Little white lie. Pack of lies. Cent’s catching Dane in a lie here. Go figure. 😬

“Hunters don’t age after they reach sixteen if they’re natural-born like me.” Dane almost growled her words. “But the ones I make stop agin’ wherever they’re at. You were what, forty when I made you?”

But Stowne said she wasn’t born Hunter. Cent found the lie interesting. “I’m thirty-one, thank you very little.”

“Are you repeatin’ numbers? Cause that tattoo on your ass is all wrinkled and—”

“When did you see my ass?” Cent took another swig of wine.

“I haven’t, but now I know you got a tattoo on it.”

#1lineWed #PromoLGBTQ #Paranormal #Fantasy: Enemy

Here’s another short-‘n-sweet  #1lineWed post. The theme is enemy. Enemy mine. Enemy of the state. Frenemies.  The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

“Do not speak to me like Dane talks to her wives and girlfriends.”

“Dane doesn’t have any girlfriends, and she’s faithful to her wives.” Why’d I… Cent had defended Dane’s honor to her own spouse, one of Dane’s rivals if not enemies.

WIPpet Three: No Daughter of Liberty

Here’s my #WIPpet Math for 4/3/2019: 3+1=4 paragraphs from my still untitled side story set within the Appalachian Elementals series

Note: the short paragraph in orange comes from last week’s #WIPpet.

Mary says Charity wouldn’t pluck a chicken to save herself from starvation, and I’m certain it’s true.

“Come along, Nub.” Conall calls to me, and I slide down the loft’s ladder to stand beside him. We’re the long and the short of Master Gow’s Tusculum farm. That’s what Conall calls us when he’s drinking a bit too much of the liquor Master Gow leaves when he visits, but there probably won’t be any of that until after we get back home, if at all this night. It will depend on how badly Conall’s arm hurts when we return.
