DARKER KEEPING HOUSE COVER FINAL (2)And here it is, the final cover for Keeping House: An Appalachian Paranormal Fantasy. The novel is slated for a July 8th release, and I can hardly wait! If you thought Cleaning House was good, buckle up. This one’s going to turn you upside down and wring you out like a damp dishrag before it’s all over.

I’ve ten million things to do, and not enough time to get it all accomplished, but isn’t that life?

Hi, and welcome to #Rainbowsnippets*! This one is uniquely mine, but there are lots of other great snippets to read so after you finish here click the FB link at the bottom of the post to discover other great LGBTQIA authors and their works.

This week I’m picking up where I left off last week in Keeping House. Kenzie’s heading home, and Dane’s not at all thrilled.

Note: The portion in orange comes from last week’s snippet.

“Yes’m, I’m goin’.” Kenzie flew off in a soggy-winged snit, leaving the circle attendees staring after him.

“Apologies for disruptin’ the proceedin’s, Stowne. Please continue.” Dane took another draw from her jar.

Stowne picked up where they’d left off, telling of Brigid as a unifier, as a woman of practicality and patience beyond all else. It was a beautifully simple ritual, and the music that followed was equally as unpretentious. One flute and one drum, but the rhythm brought Cent to her feet as soon as it began.

“Join me.” Stowne extended their hand.

“Now, dammit, I got things to do and…” Dane grumbled when everyone, especially Cent, turned to glare at her. “I got plans for tonight.”

“You can wait a bit longer.” Cent placed her hand in Stowne’s and they danced together around the bonfire, her feet on theirs as they moved. It was an old tradition but one Cent appreciated ever-so-much as she placed her cheek to their chest. I’m gonna miss you.

The Brigid’s circle is winding down, and Cent’s soon going to have to leave… with Dane. I wonder what’s going to happen then. (Okay, I know, I did write this novel after all, but imagine how torn Cent must be feeling right about now. She’s leaving her family, her friends, her safety… and all to fulfill the deal that saved her life a few months before.)

  1. Lovely moment with Stowne, I can almost feel Cent’s heartache for having to leave with Dane after this… but I’m really looking forward to seeing how their story together plays out after this!
