It’s Saturday, and that means it’s time for Rainbowsnippets*! This one is uniquely mine, but there are lots of other great snippets to read, so after you finish here click the FB link at the bottom of the post to discover other great LGBTQIA authors and their works.
Cent, from Cleaning House and Mama etc. is the protagonist in my current #WIP, Keeping House, but I’m currently introducing you to a character who was a minor, but important, player in both stories. Dane’s a major player now, she-king of the Hunter Fey, so you’d best pay attention to the king.
At this point, Cent’s still unimpressed. Dane’s being a general pain in the arse, and she’s trying Cent’s patience.
The two sentences in orange come from last week’s snippet.
Oh, please do something so stupid. But Cent knew Dane wouldn’t. She was testing Cent’s boundaries, and such magical jabs were part of Hunter rhetoric. If they couldn’t get under your skin one way, they’d try another. Stowne had attempted to steel her against such things, but she hadn’t taken to it well, and they’d argued each time before she’d realized it was a trap. “The sooner you sit, the sooner the circle begins and ends.”
“Then get to it.” Dane strode across the sands to her designated seat along the circle’s edge, telling her men to tuck their wings and stand behind her. “Oh, and Cent?”
Yes, what now? And Cent has to spend three months serving this woman? Geez. Cent might be immortal, but it looks like 1/4 of eternity is going to be utter hell, doesn’t it?
