9: #HolidayTreeNovella #CleaningHouseNovel #RainbowSnippets Seventy 10/27: A Devilish Death

10, 9… This marks the second day of my ten-day countdown until the release of my novella Mama, Me, and the Holiday Tree. You can read more about #HolidayTreeNovella at the bottom of this post, but today I’m sharing a final tidbit from my last novel, Cleaning House.

This is, cross my heart, my last #Rainbowsnippet from Cleaning House. This one deals directly with one of the two death elementals within the novel. It’s a mere tidbit of a dark, horror-edging scene that shows exactly why this novel is filed under both contemporary and paranormal fantasy, plus it’s a good place to end things.

Welcome to this week’s installment of Rainbowsnippets*! This one is uniquely mine, but there are lots of other great snippets to read, so after you finish here click the FB link at the bottom of the post to discover other great LGBTQIA authors and their works.

The setup: Someone Cent dearly loves is in trouble, and she’ll have to face down death to set him free.

“You want him, Mother?”  The black mass switched into a solid form, landing hard on the ground with cloven hooves to leer at Cent. Evil personified. Death made intentionally terrifying. Death shaped like the Devil down to the horns and flicking tail. “Come get him.”

And that’s all you’re getting. (Evil grin) Click the Cleaning House cover in the right-hand column to go to Amazon, but you can purchase a copy in either ebook or print formats at most online retailers and even a few brick and mortars, or directly from the Mountain Gap Books website.

A dozen handmade holiday ornaments, that’s all, but it might be an impossible task.

Centenary Rhodes and her mother are at constant odds. It’s one of the many reasons Cent left home when she was eighteen. Mama’s difficult for anyone to manage, but now that Cent’s back home, she has to try. Mama, however, won’t acknowledge who Cent’s become, even though she’s repeatedly been shown the truth.

It’ll take more than popcorn strings and paper snowflakes to heal the rift that’s formed between Cent and Mama. It’s going to take bushels of patience, heaps of magic, and assistance from everyone on both sides of Embreeville Mountain to reset the Balance between them.

But with Yule and Christmas just around the corner, it might already be too late.

Mama, Me, and the Holiday Tree is available for preorder in both print and ebook formats.
