Welcome to WIPpet Wednesday*. This week, I’m sharing more from the sequel to Cleaning House, Keeping House, which is truly still a WIP. I’m almost finished with the rough draft though. Actually, I’m 99K into the work, and I’ve sketched out the ending, but I’m taking a break to work on a holiday novella set in the same world as Cleaning House, meaning it’s contemporary. It’s titled Mama, Me and the Holiday Tree and will be released in ebook format on November 1, 2018.

The focus in the prologue for Keeping House is the character Dane. She has a dark history, and I’m shoving you headfirst into it. The prologue is set in the year 1603.

Here’s how I picture Dane back then: young, desperate, and angry.

Here’s my WIPpet math for 8/29/2018: 2+1=3 paragraphs from Keeping House, novel two in the Appalachian Elementals series.

This WIPpet picks up right where the last left off, but I’ve included the final line from last week (in yellow) to help you along.

Dane’s heart is tightly tangled with her beautiful catch, so she jumps into the deal before she fully thinks, shuddering when Duff pulls her close, hissing his want before he kisses her.

     “Ah made ye Hunter because ye pleased me Morag’s heart, sweet Dane, but now that ye are grown an’ she has become resistant tae me charms, ye will please me in ‘er place.”

     The Tsalagi woman remains silent, unfamiliar with the tongue they speak, but her eyes grow large with the knowledge of what her keeper must endure to save her from the spit.

     “Secure ‘er then come tae me chambers.”
