#CleaningHouseNovel #WIPpet Wednesday #WIPitWed 7/18/18 Four Thieves

(Looks up from her work) Oh, hi! Is it Wednesday already? Where’s the time gotten off to?

Welcome to WIPpet Wednesday*. I’m sharing again from Cleaning House, which will soon lose its WIP (work-in-progress) status.

Here’s my WIPpet math for 7/18/18 – I’m taking the seven for seven paragraphs from Cleaning House. Yes, I know this is actually non-math, but so goes it.

The setup: Cent’s thrown a spell bottle at Pyre because they’ve become a little too aggressive.

The first line, in yellow, comes from last week’s WIPpet.

The last of Pyre disappeared in a puff of angry black smoke that slid out the window.

“You got ’em good!” Birdie’s laugh drifted from the corner.

“What was in that bottle?” Cent turned to Tess and Rayne.

“Some old Four Thieves by the vinegar smell.” Tess gaped at her. “It’s a minor banishment spell that’ll keep Pyre away for a little while. And you backed it with a strong Bible quote too. Perhaps you’re recallin’ more than you thought.”

“Serves them right.” Rayne raised their hand to their mouth to stifle a bubbling laugh. “You’ve used a bottle on them before. It stings, but not so long that we elementals can’t forget.”

     “But where’d they go?”

“To their lair beneath the mountain to lick their wounds.” Tess used her fingers to wipe ash from Cent’s face. “Give me that shirt for rags when we get back home. Pyre burned holes in it.”

“How long?” Cent drew her eyes from the shattered bottle to the window glass, which was now coated with soot. “How long will they be gone?”

Are you wondering why Cent’s so concerned with Pyre? Come back next week for my next-to-the-last WIPpet from Cleaning House.

That means I’ll have to find something new to start sharing… crap. (gives an owl-eyed look)

*WIPpet Wednesday is a blog hop hosted by Emily Wrayburn wherein writers share excerpts of their latest WIP. All genres and levels of accomplishment are welcome. The only stipulation is that the excerpt must coincide with the date in some manner. For example, on 10/8/14 you might share 10 lines from page 8, 8 paragraphs from chapter 14, or perhaps 18 sentences by doing WIPpet math and adding the day to the month. We’re flexible like that.
