I’ve still got a list of things to do before Cleaning House is released, but I got a few things checked off this week, and that’s definitely something.
Welcome to this week’s installment of Rainbowsnippets*! This one is uniquely mine, but there are lots of other great snippets to read, so after you finish here click the FB link at the bottom of the post to discover other great LGBTQIA authors and their works.
I’m sharing from Cleaning House again. The novel is an Appalachian-set Contemporary/ Paranormal Fantasy where the past and the present are blended with a healthy dose of granny magic. The mountains are alive, and a little moonshine can cure most everything.
The Setup: Cent’s talking to her cousin Aubrey on the phone, getting an update on what’s been happening with the family.
Note: K-Town is local slang for Knoxville, which is located about 90 miles away from where Aunt Tess lives.
[Cent] “So how are you, Aub?”
“Still driving back an’ forth to K-Town on the weekends. You know how it is.”
Ethan during the week. Straight on the weekends around any family besides Tess. No one should have to live two lives for their family to accept them. “Why do you think I moved away?”
Leading two lives has gotta stink, but Aubrey stayed when Cent didn’t. Wonder why? (drifts away with a smile on her face) Keep reading along, and you might figure it out.
Ready to read more from Cleaning House? You can do so HERE and/or pre-order the ebook version HERE or at other online book retailers.

Ooh. I look forward to following this through. Best wishes! Thank you for sharing. And Happy Writing!

Ah, I love Aubrey. And…and…I have thoughts I’m keeping to myself. *zips lips*

Ha! Yeah, I probably know just what you’re thinking. Less than two months to go! I’ll send you a review request this next week, all nice an’ proper-ish like. (I was channeling Dane Gow there.) 😄

Poor Aub.

Yeah, I’ve known several people over the years that lived this way. It’s like living to separate lives.

I hope Aubrey doesn’t come to a point where she has to live a double life anymore.

Yeah, that’s a tough place to be in, isn’t it? He’ll be okay, though, but everything is a process.

Living separate lives (for any reason) sucks.

Doesn’t it though? Thanks for reading along.

Aww, thanks. This one is getting more pre-orders than I’ve had on any of my novels, which thrills my soul.

Maybe there are compensations for Audrey?

Oh, Aburey’s world is changing like Cent’s, so everything’s up for grabs.

No one has to live two lives, that really resonates.

Yeah, does for me to, until the last few years. Professionally, my spouse was my cousin because… the outh and public schools.

Poor guy. It’s no fun having to hide part of yourself away. ♡

No fun at all. I think we’ve all had to do it in some form or fashion at some point in our lives.
