I’m running in low gear right now because of medication adjustments. If you take an anticonvulsant, you know just what I mean. Any sort of change, especially an uptick in your dosage, messes with you for days. I’ve spent a week now with an upgrade to one medicine’s evening dosage – I’ve slept reeeaaally well. Starting tomorrow, I up the daytime dosage too. That. Will. Leave. Me. Dragging – at least for a few days, and feeling hungover until I adjust, but if it works, it’s worth it.
I’d gotten to the point of throwing and dropping things with my sudden movements. It was getting hard to use a keyboard at times, and my action tremor had definitely gotten worse. Autoimmune-driven CNS problems suck – I’ll leave it at that.
It’s Wednesday again, which means it’s time for #WIPpet Wednesday** and #QueerBlogWed*! While WIPpet Wednesday, hosted by the gracious Emily Wrayburn, features a diverse mix of authors, #QueerBlogWed is geared for, well, queer blogs, which this site certainly is.
This week I’m sharing a tiny bit of Cleaning House, a Queer Appalachian Contemporary Fantasy, and the first installment in my Appalachian Elementals series.
Here’s my WIPpet math for 4/18/18: 4-1 = 3 paragraphs
The Setup: A mischievous Fire Elemental named Pyre has asked Cent to dance, and she’s as wary as she is curious.
“Me?” Cent peered at her cargo pants and black t-shirt. “I’m not exactly known for my dancing, and I’m not dressed for—”
“Don’t matter how you dance, just that you do.” Tess nudged her. “Take off your shoes, roll-up your pantlegs, and join them if you want. But I warn you that dancing with elementals ain’t nothing like dancing with a person.”
“Are you certain Pyre’s the one to…” Rayne shrugged. “Better to remember now than later, I suppose. Watch yourself, Centenary. Pyre likes to heat your nethers when they dance.”

*#QueerBlogWed is still to share posts with LGBTQIA+ content & RT others. New rules: Wed only + promo widely to engage readers! Writing is a business & also art so promo your work with flair & find new readers!
** WIPpet Wednesday is a blog hop hosted by Emily Wrayburn wherein writers share excerpts of their latest WIP. All genres and levels of accomplishment are welcome. The only stipulation is that the excerpt must coincide with the date in some manner. For example, on 10/8/14 you might share 10 lines from page 8, 8 paragraphs from chapter 14, or perhaps 18 sentences by doing WIPpet math and adding the day to the month. We’re flexible like that.
