#bookgiveaway #RainbowSnippets Thirty-Five 2/24 First Impressions

It’s time for #Rainbowsnippets*! I’m counting down the days to the release of Surrogate: Hunted on March 1st. And, while the days are ticking away, I am excited to announce that I’m hosting an ebook giveaway to celebrate the upcoming release. I’m giving away three copies of Surrogate: Hunted, your choice of three formats, on March 1st. To enter, click the image above. It’ll open a new tab with the Rafflecopter entry instructions.

I’m jumping ahead to one of my favorite scenes in the novel, a moment where first impressions mean everything.

The setup: Etain and Brigit are still on the run, but they’ve found a brief reprieve— rest and a warm meal under the watchful eyes of a pair of married Cycalk women, Stra Ttla and Yalntry Sar.

Note: The Myt Basa Tra is the Cycalk name for their breeding grounds.

“We’re in the next room if you need anything.” Stra and Yalntry left the kitchen, but Etain could see them through the open door, sitting together in a large, padded chair, Yalntry across Stra’s lap with her head to her shoulder while they talked and held hands. They were past the Myt Basa Tra and now lived in what Trn called the good age. Stra lifted her head at one point, and raised her brows at Etain, smiling as she leaned in to kiss Yalntry.

She’s a bold one. Etain turned back to her soup.

*Rainbow Snippets is a safe and welcoming space for LGBTQIA+ authors, readers, and bloggers to share 6 sentences each week from a work of fiction—published or in-progress—or a book recommendation. Feel free to join in!
