(This is a revision of a Sci-Fi poem I wrote in 2002)
I’m not generally this pessimistic, but given the current events in the U.S. it seems fitting.
A Longstanding Lie
With gun
With blade
With deep-seated rage
We’ve settled on this course
You win
We lose
All turns subterfuge
The process reconvenes
Take yours
For mine
More dangerous times
So it can be yours again
Your son
My wife
Breathing and life
Hate means more than family
From Earth
Then out
With no shred of doubt
The process will repeat
Star Trek’s humanity one is a lie
